Fernandes keen to 'have a word' with Keane
Bruno Fernandes was a key figure for Manchester United during the 2025-26 campaign, helping the club secure a third-place Premier League finish and a return to the Champions League after a two-season absence. 'A very underwhelming campaign'
Now the curtain has come down on the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, here is my end-of-season review - with a look back to what I predicted in August. Chelsea's poor season contained one final insult when they were beaten at Sunderland on the final day, meaning they have no European football under new manager Xabi Alonso next season. Liam Rosenior lasted only three months amid acrimony - a head coach out of his depth - before Calum McFarlane stepped in to take Chelsea to the FA Cup final, which they lost to Manchester City.

Sunderland 2-1 Chelsea: What Le Bris said
Sunderland won 54 Premier League points this season, the most by a newly promoted side since Leeds United in 2020-21 (59 points), while their seventh place finish is the best by a newly promoted team since Wolves in 2018-19 (7th). Analysis: Gibbs-White omission could still haunt Tuchel
Only time will tell if Thomas Tuchel's decision to leave Morgan Gibbs-White at home for the World Cup is the right one. The Nottingham Forest playmaker and the City Ground clearly think it was the wrong one after the best and most consistent season of the 26-year-old's career. Gibbs-White's 15 Premier League goals this season leaves him as the second top English scorer in the top flight, only beaten by Ollie Watkins following the Aston Villa striker's double at Manchester City on the final day.
